How Heartburn Soothe‡* Chewable Works: The Science Behind Our Formula
Heartburn Soothe* features alginate, or alginic acid, a viscous compound found in the cell walls of brown algae. Alginate can hold over 200-300 times its own weight in water. In the stomach, this gelling substance works like a raft, floating on top of the acid pocket of stomach contents after a meal.
This “raft” keeps the acid from entering the esophagus. * When acid can’t enter the esophagus, it not only helps with soothing the sensation of occasional heartburn, but also the tissue of the esophagus is allowed the opportunity to rebuild.*
How does alginate work with the other ingredients? Heartburn Soothe* combines alginate with buffering agents and a unique botanical extract.
