Non GMOA pioneer in athlete nutrition
Carnosine, which was discovered and isolated in Russia as early as 1900, proved to be a dietary supplement for athletes as early as around 1950, although it became known as part of effective sports nutrition in Western countries since the beginning of the new millennium.
This natural, endogenous substance is one of the so-called dipeptides, chemical compounds which are composed of two amino acids - in this case alanine and L -histidine - which can be split back into two amino acids by hydrolysis. In humans, carnosine levels are elevated in the brain and muscles. In food, carnosine is most often found in meat. It is absorbed in the small intestine. When taking carnosine, it often makes sense to combine it with zinc.
