As a biologically active form of vitamin B3 (niacin), NADH is something like the biological explosive of our body. NADH is an energy coenzyme of the respiratory chain, an oxidizing agent of the reduced form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and is involved in many redox reactions in cells. In other words: NADH is co-responsible for the transfer of negatively charged electrons and positively charged hydrogen ions. In the catabolic metabolism of glucose and / or fats, it first absorbs electrons and releases them again during oxidation, i.e. it transfers them to oxygen. It is an activated carrier molecule that is part of biosynthetic reactions and ensures that the body has enough energy available.
However, NADH is extremely unstable when exposed to light or oxygen, so a truly strong donor of electrons and energy can quickly lose its effectiveness.
