Alpha-lipoic acid is available in two forms: as R (+) alpha-lipoic acid, the natural endogenous form, or as S (-) alpha-lipoic acid, a synthetic isomer. Our product R (+) alpha-lipoic acid 200 mg contains only the pure endogenous form. Alpha-lipoic acid has two important functions in the human body: On the one hand, as a coenzyme of enzyme complexes - including pyruvate dehydrogenase and alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase - it is essential for the production of cellular energy. Alpha-lipoic acid, on the other hand, acts as a radical scavenger.
Alpha-lipoic acid is an important sulfur-containing fatty acid that is soluble in water and fat as an intermediate in the metabolism of choline in the body. The body can produce alpha-lipoic acid and absorb it through food. However, one of the peculiarities of alpha-lipoic acid is that it can cross the blood-brain barrier between the bloodstream and the central nervous system. It can penetrate intra- and extracellular structures and is converted to dihydrolipoic acid.

Take 1 capsule daily with sufficient water. Preferably 30 minutes before a meal.
