Doctor’s Best High Absorption Iron with Ferrochel® is chelated to help increase bioavailability, and prevent the nausea and digestive discomfort commonly caused by Iron supplementation. Chelation allows iron to pass easily through the intestinal wall, where minerals are optimally absorbed. Iron is an essential mineral that helps in the production of normal red blood cells. It is an important component of hemoglobin which carries oxygen throughout the body. Iron plays an important role in the metabolism of folic acid, which is important for fetal nervous system development. Anemia in pregnant women has been linked to low birth weight and premature birth. The most common cause of anemia is iron deficiency.
