Golden Root – worth its weight in gold?
The root of Rhodiola rosea (also known as rose root or golden root) has been used and highly valued primarily in the Far East, China, and Siberia, but also in Europe—for example by the Vikings and, according to many records, by Greek physicians as well.
A bit of history
The plant has a very long history. Traditionally, it was used to restore physical and mental stamina and to reduce feelings of hunger. According to the earliest written records, even the Vikings cultivated and traded the Golden Root plant. In later periods, Soviet physicians successfully used it in the physical and mental preparation of athletes and astronauts.
